Leveraging the power of networks:
mobilizing shared eVs for a more caring community
We are managing a new rural eV community Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and sustainable networking model for replication across the UK in 2020-21.

Under a National Lottery Power to Change grant the project will develop self-sustaining business models to help portfolio expansion by Community Energy Groups as the FIT comes to an end, and trial a shared eV car club in a rural setting, where ROI is harder to achieve than in densely populated areas.

Research shows strong demand for individual transport in the UK fuelled by the Covid pandemic but the UK lags behind Europe in offering seamless, individual, multi-modal solutions in both urban and rural settings (e-scooters, e-bikes, cargo-bikes, e-vans, e-cars etc).

This pilot is a step towards showing communities and community energy groups that clean-fuelled hire cars offer a safe, low carbon, flexible solution
helping to reduce costs for those who are looking after their household budgets and make an ROI for the club. Join the community-benefit platform cooperative model here. |
Antigua and Barbuda
Inclusive Renewable Energy Investment Strategy
Future Earth is delivering a wide-ranging package of work on "Inclusive Renewable Energy Investment" for the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, Department of the Environment, under the NDC Partnership "Climate Action Enhancement Package" being delivered by GGGI, IRENA and Climate Analytics. Click here for project details.
With the GGGI colleagues, Future Earth has developed a self-financing Equitable Leasing Model, which can be delivered by public or private companies, whist the national utility upgrades to energy mix management. Work dovetails nicely with CAMCO CRAF; GIZ, IUS and CARICOM TAPSEC activities in the region, including Integrated Utility/ ESCO models.
